This is a blog about the adventures of a 50 some year old man moving to Oulu, Finland to get his PhD and do research area of interest, and that man is me, Don Steiny.  People have asked me for years to do a blog and I have always thought it was a wonderful idea in principle, but the warm evenings and endless chances for meeting interesting people in Silicon Valley made me loath to spend more time sitting at a keyboard.   Here it is very cold, dark and sparsely populated. Many of the people I encounter are wonderful, as you will read, but the level of effort sometimes makes sitting her at the keyboard a welcome respite.
